Configuration

User import from Active Directory

Active Directory users who are members of a given AD security group are automatically imported into STARFACE. Imports can optionally be scheduled and re-occurring (assuming sufficient free STARFACE user licenses).
User properties such as first name, last name, email address and any number of phone numbers (business phone, fax, ...) are taken into account.

Phone numbers that match the STARFACE line configuration are assigned to users as their phone numbers. For fax numbers, Software Fax2Mail is configured for the user and the corresponding number.

If several users in the Active Directory have the same phone number, the module creates a STARFACE user group during import and assigns the ambiguous phone number as well as the associated users to this group. In addition, a mapping between AD security groups and STARFACE user groups can be created in the module so that members of the AD security groups automatically become STARFACE group members.

Users who are members of an admin security group in the Active Directory are granted admin rights when imported into STARFACE. Admin users are imported first.

If there are STARFACE users that have no equivalent in Active Directory, these users are renamed by placing a dash in front of their last name. This indicates that the user has been deleted in Active Directory and can therefor also be deleted on STARFACE. The Active Directory Synchronisation module itself will not delete users in order to not lose any existing call list information, faxes or voicemails (or in general: any data).

In addition, all telephone numbers (with the exception of the primary internal telephone number) are withdrawn from a user who only exists in STARFACE, so that the telephone numbers are again available to other users. If this is to be prevented (e.g. for users who do not exist in the AD, such as door intercoms, fax machines, etc.), the user must be assigned admin rights (in STARFACE rights management).

If users are no longer existent in the AD, the module withdraws their phone numbers from the corresponding STARFACE users. Please make sure that you do not unintentionally withdraw the phone numbers of users by moving AD users from the path specified in the module, changing the AD user groups or changing the email address and the user name in the AD in such a way that an assignment between STARFACE user and AD user is no longer possible.

Preparation for the AD import

  1. Import the "Active Directory Synchronisation" module into your STARFACE PBX, create a module configuration for the module and paste the module license key in the provided form field.
  2. Activate AD authentication in STARFACE. The connection of STARFACE to the AD is also used by the module itself.
    Please make sure that the connecting user has sufficient rights for the AD connection to read all attributes(!) of the person objects.
  3. Create one or more lines in the line configuration of your STARFACE to make the phone numbers configured in the AD available on the STARFACE.
  4. Create two security groups in the AD that contain the users to be imported. One security group is intended for normal users, the other for admin users with elevated privileges.
  5. Enter the paths to these security groups in the module.
  6. Enable AD Import

We recommend that you delete all users (except an administrator) in STARFACE before importing so that as many phone numbers as possible can be freely assigned.

Checklist for AD Import / Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure that you use a suitable module for your STARFACE version.
  2. Make sure that the correct module license key is entered in the module configuration (not the server license key!)
  3. Make sure that all users have a unique email address that matches the Active Directory email address (case sensitive).
    Users who do not exist in the AD require a unique dummy e-mail address in STARFACE.
  4. Make sure that there are no phone number collisions in the Active Directory (ambiguously assigned numbers). Phone numbers should only be assigned to one user unless you want the phone number to be assigned to a user group.
  5. Make sure that external phone numbers in the Active Directory match the STARFACE line configuration.
  6. Choose one of two AD/STARFACE user mappings (see documentation within the module). Mixed operation is not supported.

Benutzer-Import aus Active Directory

Active Directory Benutzer, die in einer AD-Benutzergruppe zusammengefasst sind, werden automatisiert und optional zeitgesteuert in die STARFACE importiert (ausreichend freie STARFACE-Benutzerlizenzen vorausgesetzt). Die Benutzereigenschaften wie Vorname, Nachname, Emailadresse sowie beliebig viele Rufnummern (Telefon Geschäftlich, Fax, ...) werden hierbei ebenfalls importiert.

Rufnummern, die zur Leitungskonfiguration der STARFACE gehören, werden dem Benutzer als eigene Telefonnummer zugewiesen. Bei Faxrufnummern wird für den Benutzer und die entsprechende Rufnummer Software Fax2Mail konfiguriert.


Besitzen mehrere Benutzer im Active Directory die selbe Rufnummer, erstellt das Modul beim Import eine STARFACE-Benutzergruppe und weist der Gruppe diese Rufnummer sowie die zugehörigen Benutzer zu. Darüberhinaus kann im Modul ein Mapping zwischen AD-Sicherheitsgruppen und STARFACE-Benutzergruppen angelegt werden, so dass Mitglieder der AD-Sicherheitsgruppen automatisch auch STARFACE-Gruppenmitglieder werden.

Benutzer, die im Active Directory Mitglied einer Admin-Benutzergruppe sind, bekommen beim Import in die STARFACE ebenfalls Adminrechte und werden beim Import zuerst importiert.

Wenn auf der STARFACE Benutzer existieren, die keine Entsprechung im Active Directory haben, werden diese Benutzer umbenannt, indem ein Minus-Zeichen vor den Nachnamen gesetzt wird. Hierdurch wird kenntlich gemacht, dass ein Benutzer, der z.B. im Active Directory gelöscht wurde, auch auf der STARFACE gelöscht werden kann. Das Modul Active Directory Synchronisation wird selbst keine Benutzer löschen, um eventuell vorhandene Ruflisteninformationen, Faxe oder Voicemails nicht zu verlieren.

Einem nur in der STARFACE vorhandenen Benutzer werden darüberhinaus alle Rufnummern (mit Ausnahme der primären internen Rufnummer) entzogen, so dass die Rufnummern anderen Benutzern wieder zur Verfügung stehen. Soll das verhindert werden (z.B. für Benutzer, die nicht im AD existieren, wie Türsprechstellen, Faxgeräte, usw.), muß der Benutzer mit Admin-Rechten ausgestattet werden.

Vorbereitung für den AD-Import

  1. Importieren Sie das Modul "Active Directory Synchronisation" in Ihre STARFACE, legen eine Modulkonfiguration für das Modul an und fügen den Modullizenzschlüssel in das dafür vorgesehene Feld ein.
  2. Aktivieren Sie die AD-Authentifizierung in der STARFACE. Die Anbindung der STARFACE an das AD wird auch vom Modul selbst verwendet.
    Bitte achten Sie darauf, dass der Benutzer für die AD-Anbindung über ausreichend Rechte verfügt, alle Attribute(!) der Personenobjekte im AD zu lesen.
  3. Legen Sie eine oder mehrere Leitungen in der Leitungskonfiguration Ihrer STARFACE an, um die im AD konfigurierten Rufnummern auch auf der STARFACE verfügbar zu machen.
  4. Legen Sie im AD zwei Sicherheitsgruppen an, die die zu importierenden Benutzer enthalten. Eine Sicherheitsgruppe ist für normale Benutzer, die andere für Admin-Benutzer, mit erhöhten Rechten, vorgesehen.
  5. Konfigurieren Sie die Pfade zu diesen Sicherheitsgruppen im Modul.
  6. Speichern Sie Ihre Modulkonfiguration: Image Added oder Image Added
  7. Aktivieren Sie den AD-Import: Image Added

Wir empfehlen, vor dem Import, alle Benutzer in der STARFACE zu löschen (außer einem Administrator), damit möglichst viele Rufnummern frei verfügbar und die Wahrscheinlichkeit für kollidierende Einstellungen minimiert sind.

Checkliste für den AD-Import

  1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie eine für Ihre STARFACE-Version passende Modulversion verwenden (mit anderen Worten, dass das Modul mit Ihrer STARFACE-Version kompatibel ist).
  2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der korrekte Modullizenzschlüssel in der Modulkonfiguration eingetragen ist (nicht der Serverlizenzschlüssel!)
  3. Stellen Sie sicher, dass alle Benutzer über eine eindeutige Emailadresse verfügen, die in Groß- und Kleinschreibung der Emailadresse im Active Directory entspricht. Benutzer, die nicht im AD existieren, benötigen eine eindeutige Dummy-Emailadresse in der STARFACE.
  4. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie über ausreichend STARFACE-Benutzerlizenzen für die zu importierenden Benutzer verfügen.
  5. Stellen Sie sicher, dass keine Rufnummernkollisionen im Active Directory existieren. Rufnummern sollten nur einem Benutzer zugewiesen sein.
  6. Stellen Sie sicher, dass externe Rufnummern im Active Directory zur STARFACE Leitungskonfiguration passen.
  7. Entscheiden Sie sich für eine von zwei AD-/STARFACE-Benutzer-Mappings (siehe Dokumentation innerhalb des Modules). Ein Mischbetrieb wird nicht unterstützt.

Si les utilisateurs ne sont plus disponibles dans la CN, le module retire leurs numéros de téléphone de ces utilisateurs sur STARFACE. Veillez à ne pas retirer involontairement les numéros de téléphone des utilisateurs en déplaçant les utilisateurs AD du chemin spécifié dans le module, en changeant les groupes d'utilisateurs AD ou en modifiant l'adresse e-mail et le nom d'utilisateur dans l'AD de telle sorte qu'une affectation entre utilisateur STARFACE et utilisateur AD ne soit plus possible.
